Using a common ESG reporting structure ensures consistency and comparability across organizations. Key concepts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Double materiality<\/strong> requires companies to consider and report both the impact of sustainability factors on the company (financial materiality: outside-in), focusing on risks and opportunities for the business, and the company\u2019s impact on the environment and society (impact materiality: inside-out), focusing on the effects of business activities on stakeholders and ecosystems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CSDDD or CS3D (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive)<\/strong> issued in 2024, imposes due diligence obligations on companies in terms of sustainability, aiming to ensure that companies identify, prevent, mitigate, and minimize negative impacts on human rights and the environment throughout their entire value chain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>VSME (Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standards for Non-listed SMEs)<\/strong>, published by EFRAG in December 2024, is for SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) not subject to CSRD. This voluntary reporting framework is designed to help companies integrate ESG reporting into their processes in a simple and effective way. The VSME is structured into 2 modules: a Basic Module (mandatory with 11 criteria), and a Comprehensive Module (optional with 9 criteria). Adopting VSME allows SMEs to clearly and effectively communicate ESG performance to customers, suppliers, investors, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>April 3, 2025<\/strong>, the European Parliament voted in favor of the <strong>\u201cStop-the-Clock\u201d<\/strong> measure and, through the approval of a portion of the <strong>Omnibus package<\/strong>, adjusted the size thresholds for companies concerned and postponed the deadlines for sustainability reporting under the CSRD and due diligence requirements under the CSDDD. This is not a step back, but rather an opportunity to make the best use of the available time to adapt to the new rules.
